grinding or rubbing noise...

Hi, I have an 03 MCS and I've noticed a rubbing or grinding noise while accelerating, not while its stopped. Also I live in New Jersey anyone know of a good mechanic? Love the Cooper S, hate the sound...help

Does the noise go away after you drive it for a while? I have an 03 S that sounds like a tire rubb ( there's nothing for any tire to rubb on )but after 5 minutes of driving it's gone. The dealer is 45 miles away so I'd need to leave it. If you get an answer..... Please post it

Rubbing noise is more like a tire rubbing, grinding noise is probably your bearings. Does the noise occur only when acclerating or at a steady speed also?

Look at the rubber dust cover that should be on the bottom of the struts. They sometimes come loose and run on wheel.
