spark plug gap

I have a 2005 cooper S with the JCW package. I am thinking about add a screamin demon coil and 8.5mm magnecore wires to my mini. Do you need to change the gap on the plugs with this addition ? What is the normal gap for the plugs in the JCW package? Thank You.

The factory plugs in my car (Non S) were 4 prong style NGKs that have a nonadjustable gap. I would assume, but not guarantee, that they are the same style if not the same plug. Usually gap adjustment is not needed until the vehicle is either pushing much more power, a lot of boost, or is blowing oil. If they are adjustable gap, I would just set it at the factory spec. If you pull an old plug out and its an NGK, don't try to adjust it. It will only break.

I agree the stock 4 prong plugs are not adjustable. However, what should the gap be if you go to irridium plugs? When I put mine in, I made sure the gap was even; I didnt have to adjust them. Is it true these are pre-adjusted?

I was trying to make sure I gapped the JCW plugs correctly for the screamin demon coil pack. Looks like the JCW's aren't gappable. Is there are comperably cool Irridium plug out there? And would that be any better than the custom JCW's with the SD coil pack?

The NGK web site has all your info your asking for in the FAQ tab, they even get into the gap on how much power you are making and what the gap should be.
