Installed Aero Kit this weekend

Thanks for those that helped with instructions last week. On Saturday my buddy Jim and I started at 10:00 and finished everything around 3:00. I would say it was pretty simple. We ran into a few hitches along the way but nothing a dremmel wouldn't solve. The tabs on the front turn signals did not match up with the pre drilled holes on the bumper. Not a big deal but we had to drill new holes. The kit fits remarkably well right out of the box and the color match is pretty amazing especially considering the paint on my mini is a couple of years old. The front bumper did need a bit of adjustment but MINI was kind enough to make the adjustment points pretty obvious. A few minutes of tweeking and the gaps were even and acceptable. I was a little surprised the kit didn't come with sill guards or the little plug for the tow hitch. Guess I'll order them this week. In any event, here's the pic I took today. Let me know what you think...

Classic Mini in Ohio was running a special on Indi Blue. The painted kit was $600+shipping. Fed Ex was $250. I wanted the foglight blackouts which were $60. Installation cost me lunch for me and my friend So, the grand total was just a tick over $900.

As far as the rack goes... I bought the car used and the rack was already there. I don't know what parts were needed to "complete" the package. The extras are made by Thule, tho. Hope that helps.

Nice job!

That looks really cool! I like the fact that the Mini is so DIY friendly.

Here's a pic from behind. I know that a lot of owners don't like the rear - especially the decal part - and I agree to an extent but I figured smok'em if you got'em. I think it looks pretty good. In the future I may buy metal screens to replace the "fake" ones. But the truth is that at 3 ft or more you'd never really know the difference.

As far as these cars being DIY - we spent more time removing and reinstalling the nuts on the aero grill than anything else...

Man the details on that car are fantastic! Looks great!! Mind if I ask what wheels you are running? I am 1 month into MINI ownership and am already "s-lite'd" out.

Thanks guys...

The wheels are Roja Formula 5's. I got them off of ebay a while back and I couldn't be happier with them. They may be discontinued, tho... They look great, are lighter than stock and are easy to clean - which is important when dealing with white wheels.

How difficult is this install? Thinking of optioning the aero kit but can't bring myself to stomach the labor fee. I am pretty handy and can do anything with car electronics, but havent really done body work...

Wow $900!!
I was quoted $1900 CDN plus the paint, prep. and installation which was close to $4000 CDN from my Mini Dealership!!! After i heard that, my dream of having an aero kit went down the toilet
Is there a website or something that Mini has setup for purchasing aerokits??
