I went with the MINI-Madness CAI. I think it's pretty simliar to the Pilo, Rogue, and Alta. It uses a cone filter, and I like the sound and feel of the intake over all. I like the housing of the Alta a bit more (it's more enclosed), but I've modded the rubber seal around the Madness CAI to remedy things. Also, I modded the OEM cowl partition to with more holes to really give the intake some serious air. Very nice!

Plus I got it used here on NAM for $100 shipped, which was a real deal.

The JCW replacement filter is 99$. I have the JCW and like it. The piece fit in with what I wanted for performance and look. I spend a lot of time on the highway, and I love to hear the intake when I get on it, not all of the time. I noticed a slight difference in top end responsiveness when I first had it, but now I am completely used to it.

I just installed an ITG foam filter to replace the stock paper unit. I just can't see spending 99$ everytime the filter would need to be changed - now all I have to do is clean and re-oil. It is sort of a pain to get the thing apart, though. You can get the ITG filter from www.myminiparts.com. Here's more fun reading on the JCW intake: http://www.jwardell.com/mini/jcwintake.html

I put some thought into this moss carbon fiber cai, it is quite a bit more than the JCW and doesn't have the internal valving. It looks very good but the cost...

funny that no one has mentioned the M7 AGS yet. Out of all the intakes out there, I'm pretty sure that is the one I am going to nab. (hopefully this month).

i guess the modified intake to the SC is what sold me. looked to be the most beneficial in the long run.
