Nicks in pully?

I just recieved my Alta 15% pulley today. When i looked at it, i noticed small nicks on the top of the groves that hold the belt in place. Will these cause a problem for me along the lines of belt ware?

I would call up the place you ordered it from or contact Alta before you have the pulley installed. Always better to be safe then sorry. Hope everything works out well for you.

are u talkin' inside groves or the outer walls grove (outside edge)
mine had small niks on them too but it wuz on the outer edge of the side walls it never touches the belt so i saw no problems runnin' it they were real small u had to feel for it to see it.

I'd contact where you got it. Let them know. Maybe snap a pic if you can to make sure.

Like I said before, it is better to be safe then sorry. I to know how you feel and want to get it done asap. But is the hurry really a risk to take for possible failure and aggervation later on down the road?

Trust me... you will feel much better in the end if you get a new pulley.

Considering this mod is one of the most important to the daily running of your car you should make sure it is perfect. A piece of machined metal (sorry I can't seem to remember what they make this one out of) of this importance should and can easily be made perfect I wuoldn't settle for anything less.

A compromise on a few extra dollars for expedited shipping will be well worth it!

It is funny, I have done other mods to the car and the one mod I have not done yet is a pulley. I live only 40 minutes from helix and do not know why I have not took the plunge yet. I guess I am still worried about going as far as modifying the motor more then what I have done now. I.e. look at my sig. on my mods.

Not to everyone. I've got quite a few mods also, and I'm not planning on a pulley anytime soon.

What are your reasons for switching to the M7?

Living just a few miles from Alta and MINI Madness, having a pulley is almost a requirement! Every time I go to the local club's tech sessions, most of the people there have Alta pulleys and intakes. Of course seeing as though Alta gives us a discount and will install it for us at these tech sessions, it's hard to turn down that kind of a deal!

Sadly, during this last weekend, all of the Alta guys were sick, so I ended up installing my pulley on my own. At least I saw them install several during the last tech session, so I was able to figure it out. Definately great bang for buck ratio!
