Does anyone know where to get a REAL shop manual for an '03 MCS, or any Mini, for that matter? I'm not talking the bush-league Chilton's or Haynes, but the ones they keep on the shelves at our MINI/BMW dealerships.

This has already been tried; many people have died trying to get behind the counter at BMW for a service manual.

Just make sure you understand that those are proverbial shelves, since BMW "manuals" have been electronic for nearly 20 model years.

I actually look forward to the eventual release of a Chilton's or Haynes as I've always liked and used those in the past. The only problem IMO is that they often try to cover too many years/models and hence are somewhat lacking in clarity. But from what I can tell, the situation is even worse with the "official" BMW manual since they too cover an entire year's worth of BMWs...AND (based on my prior BMW experience) often only describe procedures that utilize the special BMW tools (which of course we mere mortals can't get).
