Code 1125 help

my car is throwing 1125 TB position sensor...... I cleared it multiple times and it keeps coming back. (limps and won't idle) the dealer says the TB is shot and needs to be replaced....it is a WMS unit...... surely there is another answer.

Does the dealer define what 'shot' means? Ask them if they know the failure mode (what broke) other than repeating "It's throwing code 1125 so we need to replace the TB".

Did you keep your old TB or did you give it to Randy for a core charge. I kept mine just for this reason. Hopefully Randy can get one overnighted to you before the weekend. Good Luck

Make sure you check the harness going to the TB. There has been some bad ones.

I sent back the core to randy...the dealer says the sensor is shot and part of the TB... can't be replaced by itself

The 02s and 03s have had issues with the part of the wiring harness that branches off to the throttle body.

Our local dealership confidently proclaimed that my aftermarket throttle body was taking a dump on me. After they replaced it with a stock one, they were utterly flabbergasted when it immediately threw the same codes. After many days of jumping up and down, beating their chests and throwing dung at the wall one of them had an original thought (or bothered to read their TSBs)- and replaced this portion of the harness.

Then again, I have never owned a BMW product that did not have the throttle body die within the first 30K miles of ownership............

I left word at the shop... I have never had a code that after I cleared it came right back with "limp mode"....... usually it is a temporary situation and clear it once and it goes away....... The last problem I had that I could not fix it turned out to be the Unichip causing a code and they fixed it...... the one thing about all these mods is when weird s%$t happens it is very hard to trace the root of the problem. TB positon sensor.......?

This exact problem was resolved on my '02 MCS by replacing the throttle body. Note that my wiring harness had been replaced previously.

It appears the TB has taken a dump...... I have had this code before and after clearing the problem went away for long periods.... I felt like it came about when the "moon was in the 7th house" and had more to do with my mods not playing together in some unique condition. the condition did not come up very often...clear it and all was good. now the engine will not stay out of limp mode..... it is still 1125 only (small error)....not 1126 or 1226 etc.

Thanks to those who responded,,,,even if it was to tell me I should have a shop manual.
