DSC Light stays on after spirited driving

when I'm getting onto the highway, usually the top of 1st, quick shift to 2nd, the wheels churp going into 2nd, and the DSC light flashes, as im usually preoccupied with my driving i dont look down at the light. Then i get to 3rd and the tires churp into 3rd and by that point im going the speed limit so i shift to 6th, but when i look down at the speedo i see that the DSC light is on. Why does this happen? i can't turn it on or off until i restart the car? Its happened twice now the past few times i driven the car.

Have it checked. Manual, page 18,
"Yellow: check as soon as possible:
The indicator lamp stays lit: ASC/DSC deac-
tivated with button or defective.
In the event of a defect: Have the system
checked as soon as possible.
More information on pages 68, 69.

This happened a bunch of times...

...right before my supercharger belt snapped - I've heard something about boost levels being off and triggering a code that lights up the DSC indicator.

Check you belt for wear...just in case

You have a 19% pulley, and the weather is cold. It is a known issue that if you exceed 18psi of boost it exceeds the range of the MAP sensor and the DSC/ASC shuts off until the car is restarted. I have 19% and GIAC, and it does this nearly every time I go WOT through the gears (guess that means my BPV is a good one at least). Haven't heard of a software fix yet.

you are correct, when i first got my 19% i kept getting my check engine light and the DSC to go off after revin high...
i was going a little krazy and then i talk to Eric i think his name is from helix.com and he told me it was normal for it to happen... there is a sensor that when you car hits over 18PSI it set it both light off...
the DSC light resets easy all you do is turn off and on your car... the check egine light takes 3 off and ons....
but my MTH file did fix both of these issue...

I paid for DSC and it would be nice to have it again for street use; especially with the H-Sport Competition rear bar set at full stiffness, to avoid nasty surprises. Have actually gotten pretty good at switching the car off and on while it is moving. So Franz has a working fix, eh? Hoping GIAC doesn't leave us customers all out in the cold... Garret Lim, WE SUMMON YOU!

ok good thanks for the responses, the car is definitely alot faster since its been colder outside. I also have gotten very good at restarting the car while in motion.... its pretty cool that i could be making over 18Psi, but still annoying that i have to restart the car to gain back the safety features.
However i've been checking the belt spring holder thing, and i cannot see the last hole coming from the top of the spring, i only see the solid metal sticking through, do you think i should get a new belt? it has progressively gotten higher and higher on it since i first got the pulley. What is a healthy position to have it at? I'm guessing this is because the pulley is getting stretched out?

have you modified your ECU??? if not check out MTH.. they have a V7 tuner file with your name all over it. just tell them what mods you have and that you consistantly get overboost errors in cold weather... (you'll get even more power.. )

check out.. mthusa.com

good luck

With my helix 19%, I kept getting that light, but today I had the GIAC flash done and JCW injectors put in, and since the new ecu flash, no light. I've been purposely lead-footing it and no light as yet. Perhaps GIAC has it licked too.

This has nothing to do with software.

The steering wheel angle sensor timed out and is faulting which will turn the DSC light on and even the tire monitoring light as well.

See my post here.

Without scanning each car for fault codes, how do you know that's the cause?

I was just going to post....I get no fault codes. The light resets when I restart the car. I'm pretty sure its not the angle sensor. Like I said, since GIAC, no light.

The fault codes referenced in the above post aren't in the engine, they are in the DSC and Steering modules (neither of which can be accessed with generic scan tools).

I hear ya, it's just that sometimes symptoms like the DSC light staying on can be caused by different things and knowing the specific faults helps flesh out the whole story. BTW, if George Martin still works at the place where you work, please tell him I am still enjoying the MINI that I bought from him.

Yea, he's still here.....He was the Mini sales manager back then but left for awhile and came back later on as a salesman.
