bypass valve question.
bypass valve question.
Since the bypass valve has been the topic of debate, has anyone tried to block it off all together so it is sealed and does not operate. Thus not leaking, not yo yoing or any ill effects.
Or does the supercharger at idle/ low rpm not supply enough air?
Just curious......

The actual air path of an open BPV is to dump the post supercharged/intercooled air back into the flow path right after the throttle body. The BPV is not open to the outside world. It is all a closed path system so to speak. Make sense?
Sealing/Closing the BPV has been done with a tie-wrap by others. If I remember correctly, this eventually turns on the SES light.

I did the "zip-tie" mod a little while ago, and changed the whole BPV for a Detroit Tuned one since then...
From what I've read, the zip-tie mod can turn the CEL light on, but also over-heat the supercharger...
I think a better BPV (with a stiffer return spring) and adjusted correctly is the way to go!
Detroit Tuned BPV comes already adjusted and ready to install... If I had to do it again, I wouldn't hesitate a second! Detroit Tuned kind of release power from the engine.
