Its for the sake of education damnit. I need to know the answer before I can go drink in peace. Peter?
Ok, so here is the deal. I know where the coolant tank is, that is not hard. But why does the MC have that damn cap to the lower right of the engine:

and the MCS doesnt:

Well i hope someone can answer this by the time I stumble back. Thanks for putting up with this obnoxious thread.

Just double-checked with a tech. That is where you fill the Coolant after a drain/flush. The Cooper S has a pressurized expansion tank, so you can fill it directly via the tank. The Cooper's tank, however, is not pressurized so you need to fill it via this tube.
See, it pays to ask "dumb" questions - it turns out it wasn't such a dumb question afterall!

Great, I knew there was an answer that would make sense. Thank you Rev Limiter for the labeled diagram--you beat me to it and that was the cap in question, and thanks Mini2Go for an answer that makes sense and kills my annoying curiousity. I wondered if it were something like that as the MC has a pop off coolant cap and the MCS has the screw on/off cap.
This thread can now go to to sleep.

Oh, well...
If nothing else, rednwhitecooper, the pic may help the next time you take yours in for service.
