rough idle after V42.1

Since installing a boost/vac guage last week, I noticed that when my MCS goes into it's funky little blip, blip idle mode (stumbling), the vac pressure normally at 18lbs fluctuates down to 14lbs, then back up again and so on.
Any ideas or thoughts??? First time this ever happened was after the dealer emmisions upgrade.

i belive that the latest sfotware version is up to 42.3. take it to the dealer and have them flash program the dme with the newest version they have which should atleast be 42.2 and have them also clear all your adaptations and reset them. and it should be good. if not let us know how it works out

do you have the latest update? I'm a little hesitant to take my car in and have their latest update cause something to go wrong.

on that note, I'm gonna start a thread to see who has the latest and what they think.

i do not have the lates update but i've heard that the dealers are having good luck with 42.2 or higher and then also having the adaptation values reset. personally i think that having the adaptation values rest along with the new software is the key

v43 is the most current. Has not helped our cold start/rough running issues.

Do you know if the adaptation values were reset when the software update was loaded? bryan1970 may be on to something with the adaptation reset. I thought that when the DME was updated, the update process would reset the adaptation values.

Adaptation is cleared whenever power is cut and residual voltage drained.

but were the adaptation values reset? becasue actually the version 43 software has no updates for US cars only for European cars. and when the adaptations are rest the dealer should just let the car idle for about 5 mins with as many loads on as possible i.e a/c, lights, rear defog etc.

I guess I need your definition of "adaptation values"?

there are adaptation values for the idle speed, map sesnor, and like 8 other values that the dme learns over time and adapts to the driving style and conditions of the car. a lot of times the car will learn these values with little to no loads on the engine. so what the dealers have been or should be doing is reseting the idle adaptations and setting all the possible parasitic loads on the car while it relearns the values. that way if you start the car and turn on the a/c theoreticaly the engine shouldn't bog down and idle poorly. however Mini/BMW has not actually released a for sure fix with the idle issues of the mini. so reprogramming and resetting the idle adaptations is still somewhat of a bandaid. unfortunatly the idle issues for right now are still something that may just have to be delt with in owning a mini.

i have the same problem . The SA called yesterday and said there were no codes and he wanted to keep it over night. They will test my Gas today. I am not sure what to tell them. I just got the car over 2 months ago. It was used. I am not really familar with the Mini engine yet.

My MCS does the rough idle less often now. Still running 42.1.
Just over 70,000 miles last weekend, every thing else has been fine with my MINI otherwise.

i just had my ecu reflash and adaptions cleared, but the problem is still there. The SA said to put some 94 gas in to see if the problem will go a way. The car only has 3500 miles
