A few weeks ago you mentioned you knew a good mechanic at Precision Autowerks in Miami. Here's my plight, if you care to talk to him about it:

My St. Louis Mini dealer OBD2'd my car and found multiple faults that they say are caused by an electrical short in the wiring to the solenoid inside the CVT. They do not rebuild CVTs, just replace, for about $5600. Does he know anyone in the US who rebuilds these much more cheaply or takes in "core" trades for a good one? I'm willing to remove and ship it.

Please explain... I'm a CVT owner, and always like to know what sorts of things are not warrantied (and why they are not), especially with the CVT...

i bought this wrecked with a salvage title, so no warranty. yours will be good for 4 years!
