Because the supercharger is like a pump, and the water has a place to go. In the compression chamber, there is nowhere to go.

it only takes about 1/4 cup of liquid to hydrolock one cylinder so it's not like you have to encounter a hurricane. That and the intake is sucking it in.

Any idea what kind of air filter/intake those blown rigs were using? might be a reason to go with the Alta style, instead of the AGS or HAI.;

Greg?
Nope, not me :smile: Mine's all black, no stripes.

The tech also said the two cars drove thru a 1 foot deep flooded street. No warranty coverage!!

Forget about horror stories (werwolf, vampires, etc...), just give me a good hydro locked MINI story! About a month ago we had a pretty bad rain storm come in. I was totally FREAKED out because of these stories (perhaps I was afraid of my MINI getting damaged by a falling limb, perhaps it was due to the sunroof and seeing the lightning) of hydro locked MINIs. I was scared to death that my MINI would somehow throw a rod, or just stop.

It survived, and was much cleaner after the huge storm.

I believe that the Road & Track car was a bone stock '03 MCS. No special intake involved. But hitting a 1 foot deep puddle at any speed can get water in places it never should go....

I'm sure in a stock MCS in 1 foot of water, the wave can easily get up as high as the intake slot at the top of the radiator. Once it covers that up, it is all over I would guess.
