Poor Windshield Wiper Life

The windshield wipers of my MCS seem to not last long. The drivers side has a wind deflector on it that I hate to lose if I replace with commonly available wipers. I've never treated the windshield with Rainex or anything. Are longer lasting options available?

There is no need to change the wiper assemblies - just change the rubber with better inserts. Funny enough, the cheap-o ANCO rubber inserts you trim to length wipe the best of any I have tried - For under $8 at Wally World!

Also the wiper blades are covered under warrenty, I went to my dealer to get the SRS light checked out and he was like let's change those wiper blades too. He put on the work order that I complanined that the windshield was streaky, and next thing I know i have free new wiper blades. I think i am going to start going back more often while my warrenty is still good.

Replaced 'em

having run out of pre-paid service I replaced mine with PIAA

and ask...why did I wait so long? ....now if they would just make a blade for the rear

The first time I used the wipers was about two weeks after I took delivery. Man, are they crappy. They made all sorts of noises and left rubber streaks marks on the windshield. It took a lot of elbow grease and some WD40 to get it off

Really, are they JCW? (note thread in Drivetrain...)

My wipers disintegrated early one morning driving through Kansas.

In Flagstaff I just bought a new set of wipers/blades which worked fine. Couldn't find a refill that fit the stock blades (and having done the replacement on the stockers now, I'm glad.) I currently have the dealer replace the blades, but after 36K miles, I'll go back to the aftermarket. In spite of the missing wind deflector, I had no issues with wiper lift.

What I found annoying the first time was the fact that the two front blades are of differeing lengths - I had to go back into the store to return one. Perhaps that's normal nowadays; I don't buy many cars.

I think your applying too much force when turning the windshield wipers on, try toning it down a notch.

Damn, I thought they were great. Mine lasted 2+ years, driving in rain, snow, and living in the California desert.

I had mine for over a year with no real problems, you just have to clean the wiper blades every so often.

In 18 mos and 48000 miles I have worn out two sets of MINI blades, plus a set of Bosch and a set of ANCO blades. I've used 303 Wiper Treatment, but that did not seem to help a great deal.
I just got a great buy on silicone Silblades through Amazon, though I confess I might not have ordered had I read the store's feedback first. $11.95 each with free shipping, ordered on a weekend and received on a Tuesday.

Silblades are very quiet, clean very well, and have a five year warranty. In a week, obviously, I can't comment on durability, but others on this board speak highly of them as well. They are about $20 plus shipping if you do not want to take the Amazon gamble that I took.

One word:
PIAA

Pricey but man what a great job they do. Even here in AZ I can justify them given how great they work.

OK, I take it back. Today I drove around in a rain storm and no problems with the wipers at all. I guess since the last time I cleaned the windshield and cleaned the blades with Griot's window cleaner.

Wipers are covered under your maintance program 3yrs/36k miles not the warranty which is 4yrs 50k miles.
