normal for stock exhaust?

hey guys, just something i noticed and wondering if this is normal. My 05 mcs 's stock exhaust always had a nice burrble from the start and a lil popping when letting rpm drop. i have about 13000 miles on it now and notice in between shifts and when i let it rev down its been popping pretty loud and harder than it used to. Not like a backfire at all just alot more noise. Also i hear it more when im WOT or at idle its louder as well. Doesnt sound like a exhaust leak kinda sound and its all coming from near the mufflers of course. I dont mind the sounds  just curious if its ok. oh just got a 15% and helix intake but i dont think it made much diff in this sound.

Its perfectly normal of a 05 MCS.

MINIUSA released this notice to people who were concerned.

Yeah probably. It is a little more than I would have thought to break in the mufflers, but they certainly do change over time. Do you drive it hard? It would take longer if you are easier on it, so maybe 13K is about right.

Enjoy!

some days i just drive 'normal' lots of calm highway driving. but other days it sees a bit of a kick in the boot, more so now that i got some mods i think i started noticing it around 10000 or so in between shifts.

Does any one know if this pop pop feature has continued into the 2006 models?

I test drove a JCW that had MAD pop pop, and I love it! I hope I'll be enjoying some level of pop pop in my '06...

It is still present with a different exhaust, my brother owns a twincharged mini with a full 3' stainless steel exahust (can you say LOUD) and the burble or pop is still there. One time we were stopped underneath a bridge and a v6 mustang with an exhaust was next to us revving, so we rev back and get a nice LOUD burble and the two people in the mustang jumped! The looks on their faces were priceless! I was laughing the rest of the night about it. SO no worries with a different exhaust. I believe the burble is created from the ecu dumping just a little bit of fuel during these situations and that is what creates the burble! Hope this helps!

Don't ask too loudly, or it may become a $1200 option.

I just picked up my 06 MCS yesterday and yes, the pop pop gurgle pop is still there.

I was searching for info on this when I came across this thread. I heard it was normal but am still getting use to this. What exactly is it? I don't mind it and am changing my exhaust tomorrow to a Milltek so I'm sure it will go from pop pop gurgle pop to POP POP GURGLE POP. Is there any benefit from this or is it a "just because it sounds neat so we put it in" sort of thing?

I'm glad to hear the exhausts in the '06 model sounds "the same"... I like it..

I read that "notice" and it is only explaining the popping, but NOT explaining that it should be expected to change over time...

I think if I heard a change I would ask about it on NAM, too,
Tatt

Thank God...I have 200 miles on mine and I thought it was going to have to go back. Now that I know it is there on purpose I can enjoy it

I just broke 100 miles on my 2006 MCS this evening and running with the HK off and the windows down I noticed it and was getting a little concerned that it was a problem. I kind of like it but it'll take some getting used to.

Ah ok. I too was getting worried there for a bit. Wondering what exactly was causing that burble and now I find it's completely normal.

Now I can drive easier and more safely without loosing my mind.

Mines got louder and louder (late 05 build), ever since 25k miles or so its been at new levels.

I noticed at 13k miles that it did change froma burble to a pop.
