DSC/ABS functioning normally?

I recently bought a Cooper S with quite a few mods already on the car. I have all the paperwork from the previous owner as far as what was done parts wise... what I'm a little confused about is what was done to the electronics of the car. I tried using the DSC toggle switch and I didn't see any lights or anything turn on. Not only that, but I can burn rubber all the way in first, into second, and still nothing with the DSC. I also hit the brakes a little harder than usual the other day and found my tires skidding with no noises or indications of ABS functioning normally. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to look for? Is it possible the owner installed a chip that disabled ABS and DSC? Thanks in advance guys.

Abs Dsc

Both DSC and ABS use the same front wheel speed sensors. I wonder what the car would do if the sensors were unhooked, or left hooked up but moved to a point where they can't read the wheel speed? I think they are the wires that go into the top side of the front wheel bearing carriers.

One of the chips significantly reduced the action of the original DSC, but I have not seen that feature mentioned since version MINI version 36.x when MINI fixed it in one of the software upgrades. That MINI fix made a BIG (good) difference in the way my DSC operates, but I can NOT burn rubber unless I turn it off.

Also there is a kit available that will automatically turn off the DSC every time you start the car, but that won't affect the ABS.

I would check out the front wheel speed sensors and make sure they are plugged in and where they belong.

I'll look into the speed sensors, thanks for the tip.
