How important is the splashguard???
I was driving thru a construction zone the other day. While crossing over a trench temporarily filled with gravel (which looked level with the road but wasn't) the black plastic piece under the air dam scraped badly and the splash guard was ripped free. After jacking up the car for a look I found the following:
1) The front edge of the splashguard is intact, but both mounting screws in the back ripped out of the plastic.
2) Of the four 10mm bolts holding the trim under the air dam, two ripped out and it looks like there's not enough plastic left up above where the little clip thingies attach to put them back. So that trim is now held by only two bolts
3) That trim piece came loose from the driver's side wheel arch trim.
All of that is cosmetic damage which can wait till the first service in another 4k. BUT, should I be worried about driving in rain with the splashguard missing???
