HELP!!! Hissing noise while driving.
HI everyone,
Here's the short version. In May of this year, I had the front brakes and rotors replaced on my '03 MC (under warranty). After the brakes were replaced, I starting noticing a hissing sound. At first I only noticed it when I took my foot off of the brake pedal. Now I hear hissing when I take my foot off the gas pedal and when I apply or release the brakes. It seems to be more pronounced when the air conditioner is on (this may be just my imagination) and after I have driven the car awhile. It is really pronounce (and annoying) in stop and go traffic. I am talking about a fairly noticable hissing sound, like the air is being let out of a big balloon. My car was into the dealer a couple of weeks ago, when my battery died and I mentioned the hissing sound to the MSA. When I went to pick up the car the MSA (MINI service advisor) said "Oh.. the mechanics said the hissing sound is just because you have vacuum assisted brakes." That good and fine, but why didn't I hear all the hissing before the brake replacement. I am not sure they even looked at anything.
I'm a little paranoid at this point because I only have 500 miles left under warranty. I want to take my MINI in one more time, but would like to have a more "informed consumer" type of discussion.
I did a search and found a related thread, but there was no mention of the resolution of this issue. I even sent a PM the thread starter. So Please, information and comments are needed.
Thanks
