And besides, being half British, we know that an oil leak is not a problem, it is a feature. I believe that that the driver's side of my particular car is the German half because all the leaks and squeeks come from the passenger side.

Just did mine. Took 5 hours. It was leaking for the last 3 years. and I finally took a day off work to do it. saddly I have one small drip. I hope a re torque of all the bolts will take care of it.

You speak too highly of German engineering prowess. My VW began weeping oil around 80k, my MCS at 35k, my cousins' Audi and Benz around 70-80k.

BTW, just found out the strut mount on the passenger side got a tear last night while driving from SoCal to San Jose... and it looks like the O-ring between the water-pump and the block is weeping coolant too.

I don't know when mine *started* leaking but it is as my tech pointed out at the last DIY day. Cooper and I will be changing it out Saturday along with the back brakes and rotors and V/Serpentine Belt. Glad I have this resource or I'd just have to ignore it...
