Screw your IC cover on tight!
Screw your IC cover on tight!
I took off the IC cover for the first time a week ago to install new spark plugs, and apparently I didn't tighten the screws enough. When I opened the bonnet today, one screw was gone
and another was partly backed out. I'm always a bit wary over over tightening the screws on a plastic part, so I guess I didn't torque them quite enough. Even so, it is surprising to me, since I know I had them snug. Just a warning - these screws need to be really tight.

Anything will backout if subjected to heat/vibration and not torqued correctly. I think knowing the proper torque specs when reassembling parts is the most important thing to consider here. It wouldn't be an issue if they were assembled correctly inthe first place. I'm sure someone here can post the relavent specs from the Bently Manual...
The intercooler cover has metal bushings in the mounting holes that prevent damage to the plastic from high tightening torque. Dont feel like you are going to break something by tightening it.
