Yeah, that's right. The interior, rear-view mirror. I've got just over 4000 miles on the car, driven in all kinds of weather, and this is the first time it has happened. Dripped out of the day-night switch on my manual dimming rear-view when I started moving today. Condensation? Sun-roof leak? The headliner is not damp anywhere, but I figgure water must be collecting somewhere (sunroof?) and draining through the wiring hole in the stem of the mirror (for auto dim wiring).

Anyone know how to remove that unit without damaging anything? Wow, think of the $ MINI wouldmake by selling shop manuals.

Hopefully this won't happen again (I'm thinking condensation of some wierd sort), but just in case, I have paper towel in the glove box.

BTW. not one other problem so far!

(knocking on wood, and spitting to avert evil)

have you checked your windshield seal? I've heard that some people's windshield's haven't been adhered too well from the factory; perhaps this may be your culprit.

hopefully your drip was an odd day of high humidity and low dewpoint gone mad in your MINI!

Do you have a sunroof? If you do, have the dealer check the sunroof weatherstrip seals around the opening. Water could be leaking from there and hence going down the rear view mirror assembly.

Also check the windshield seals.

These inspections must be done by the dealer. Perhaps a water pressure test is in order to diagnose the source of your water leak.

You can also buy caulking at an auto parts store
as a temporary fix. I'll bet it is the windshield.
Let us know.
