How far on your '02 or '03 clutch?

My '02 MCS has over 27,000 miles on the original clutch. I'm wondering what the ballpark figure might be for how much further I can expect it to last.

I don't think any answer you get is accurate. So much depends on the driver, the drive and a miriad of other components.

So much depends upon driving style. I currently have over 30,000 miles on my '02. That included 3 auto-X days.

On previous vehicles I have normally gotten over 100,000 miles on the original clutch. Sometime well over. 170,000 miles on my last vehicle. The guy I sold it to is still running the same clutch at over 200,000 miles.

I met someone driving a MINI Cooper standard who has never gotten over 22,000 mile from a clutch. Now she is off warranty :-(

DPilgrim got almost 120k on his with multiple auto-x's per year. If you drive correctly and do a lot of highway driving, there shouldn't be a reason not to get over 100k.

i only have 16k miles on my 03, but it's grabbing like new.

Im expecting well over 100k miles even with my spirited driving. I'm real easy on the clutch even while driving spiritedly. my engagements are gentle and rev matches are precise.

42,000 and still good as new, been through 2 hard winters, a few trips to the dragstrip, an ice autocross, and ready for another asphalt autocross this weekend!

Thanks for all the good news folks. I do only street driving, some spirited, so
it looks like I can relax for a while.

I got 180,000 miles from an Acura Integra. Now have 45,000 miles on my MCS, 25+ track days and everything's still strong.

'03 MCS (Sept '02 build) with 64K. Autocrossed about 30 events a year, starting one week after getting the car. Mix of highway and city, using Falken Azenis and a 19% pulley (for the last year, 15% for the previous).

As noted before, technique has a lot to do with it. The tall first gear and relative lack of torque just off idle doesn't help.

Im at 52500 or so and going strong...

But I"m back at adding power, so that may accelerate it's eventual demise....

The clutch wears out and heavily depends on your driving technique.

How many others drive your MINI? Are they better or worse than you on "riding" the clutch?

How have your prior cars with manual transmission done on miles before replacing the clutch?

Do you do any quarter mile racing?

I'd guess that for most drivers about 60,000 to 80,000 or more miles would be what to expect.

Is your clutch slipping at all right now in any of the gears?
