Turning noise

I have an 05 mcs. When I am stopped and turn the steering wheel in either direction such as making a K-turn, as i pull away I can hear a whining or rubbing noise. Sounds as if it it is coming from the front tires. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what it is? I don't think it is power steering????

OOPS, sorry, I just read a thread a little lower down that gives the answer. Apparently same noise others have reported, probably normal:smile:

I have started to notice it too and it is definately NOT the power steering. I think it may be inherent to the car, and nothing to worry about.

My 05 does the same thing - I figured it's just inherent to the car.

I believe what you folks are talking about is the Hydralic power steering. You hear it working when parking usually. If you check MINI's site its one of the 10 little quarks of the car. But it does make sure you know its working.

Perfectly normal.
