Owning a BMW is not a great experience either :)

Sorry to hear that some have experienced bad service. I wish that more service advisors would join the boards and read what is really going on in the community.

I just picked up an 05 MCS without the John's Works Kit. I wanted it that way because I can get so much more for less. Another story in itself.

I think BMW is notorious for their service and I wish it was famous but infamous is more of the choice words I have for them. I have owned a 2001 745IL in 01 and it was just full of issues. Enough for them to buy it back before they lemoned it. The lemon law works! I got the money back and got a 545I - it was okay. Then an 04 M3 Conv.(Still have it) and let me tell you that the service has never been great. It it wasn't for one service advisor that I like there and he sometimes messes up but he makes it up in taking care of me in the long run that I can tolerate it. He is a nice guy. But overall its not they see you in a MINI and say oh its only a MINI - its just BMW service overall. You can read the BMW boards and that is all we complain about. I am trying to get in with the MINI techs to talk to them about my modifications and hopefully one of them will think its a cool thing and not void everything as far as my warranty goes. They already told me they would void it( Sales Rep ). I told them they would have to proove it caused the issues.

The best service comes from Lexus and then Infiniti. They have it down to a science. They are not good with modified cars and how to properly handle the problems but they try. I have never given a bad rating on my Lexus service. I have given so so on my BMW and that is to be nice to the service guy because I like him.

I hope that my first experience with MINI won't be bad because I won't tolerate it. Like most of you - I don't expect them to kiss my feet - I just want them to wear my shoes. They need to know that treating people like idiots or fools is not how they should treat people.

I look foward to me on this board and one member already has been very helpful!

I will have pics as soon as my wheels and spings/coilovers are on. Break in and then pulley and other stuff.

Sorry to be so long winded.

All I know is once my warranty is up, I am going to my old mechanic in Tampa. He is honest, does great work, and charges me exact times and is cool enough to let me back there and see what is going on with my car. I never actually thought I could find a car company that cared less than Volkswagen about their customers.

How old was the 745 when they bought it back? What state are you in?

It was in 2001 - I had it for 8 months total. In the State of Georgia.
