No boost STILL after many new parts
The car ecu tune IS STOCK. I only used the cobb to pull codes because it read codes that my 200$ scanner didn't..
I've never had an issues with cel after an ic piping and ic upgrade , never.. I'd assumed these ecu's have enough adaptability to run them.
and until I can understand German better , using my inpa is kinda just a shot in the dark and i get nervous playing around too much trying to find cel , clear and fuel adaptions, I get nervous the voltage drops too low because this car keeps its headlights and fogs ( aftermarket fogs ) on ALL the time. So as I'm running diag , the battery just drains. And sofar I've fried out 2x frm's because of the exact same thing.
ille get this inpa figured out soon hopefully.

Literally everyone up until this one , ive used the SAME TURBO , and even same supporting mods AND EVERY one of them cars ran PERFECTLY until they were tuned and lol my buddy still running his stock tuning. I mean geez , my n18 I ran untuned with far more upgrades and IT NEVER threw any codes ever.
the ecu has preset limits so even with this turbo which is only a 48mm shouldn't flow all that much more than the jcw turbo and the ecu should be able to regulate the boost and hypothetically it should pull throttle back IF it seen too more torque at a given rpm. Which I can totally tell ITS NOT.
here's a quick pull. You can see it's even sluggish 1-3 and the second I hit 4th ( because I came into it at higher rpm ) it immediately pulled boost and makes 1.5psi and i immediately let off throttle..
so i highly doubt this engine is making too much boost or too much power. If anything, the opposite. It felt Hella sluggish imo for what it has done to it.
You’re using AI for everything…..It isn’t always the best advisor. At least not quite yet.
I’ve never heard of a bigger intercooler causing a CEL on any mini for as long as I've been in this game.

Engine upgrades are :
48mm turbo
upgraded ic piping and stupid big intercooler
intake
catch can
Upgraded coils & ngkR jcw plugs
b.o.v ( ebay special )
so i mean its not like theres all that maby upgrades done to it yet..

I don't need to use AI for everything. But yes, AI makes mistakes, even common sense mistakes. However, AI is vastly more knowledgeable than 99.5% of car forum posters, which includes both you and me. An area that interests me most is automotive electronics. AI's knowledge of this field, including BMW electronics, is mind blowing. Welcome to the future, Nik.
all I got left to try is a new mafs and ifnot ,im kicking it out my garage.
the only reason im trying a mafs is because those are the 2x corresponding codes that come up. And it would make sense that if that sensor is not completely junk but got gunked up , it would make sense that it's can read low speed calibration but then in high demand when it uses the mafs calculations at full throttle it cannot correctly meter the amount of air.. just a theory.
lol ai destroying the environment only to give wrong answers half the time.
I miss the days of Google results with listed sources and differnt options in the search. Now it just gives you a bland , 1st found answer that it pulls randomly from online and like I said , do to misinformation that I've whined about for YEARA , noooooooow that misinformation is gonna really come back to haunt us.. that's why I always made it a mission of mine to post ONLY facts that I personally know or have experienced..
I never post he said she said or post my opinion as fact..
AI, Nik, and I agree that the large turbo is the issue. The much higher air flow produced by the large turbo and detected by the MAF sensor is significantly above the expected range by the stock DME, which triggers fault codes for air flow plausibility readings by the MAF sensor. The fault codes in turn tell the DME to deactivate the boost solenoid to protect the engine.
I find Google Gemini AI to be much more reliable than ChatGPT. Ask Gemini some specific questions that you have about INPA (or the safer updated ISTA if you have it).
