2011 MCS 009CAD - Transport Mode

Hello everyone, I have a 2011 Mini Cooper S that suddenly started throwing the error code 009CAD from the footwell module. According to Carly, the car is in transport mode.

This started yesterday as I was leaving work and saw that my hazard lights had turned themselves on at some point during the day.

Now the only way to cancel my turn signals is to press the hazard button twice. When the car is running and the lights are on, the beam continuously oscillates up and down. I can hear the headlight actuator continue to oscillate for a few minutes after the engine has shut off. The windows also no longer roll down. Etc. It sounds like the footwell module may need to be replaced or recoded.

I have standard BMW tools (WinKFP, NCSExpert, Tool32, INPA, etc) setup and I am working on getting ISTA setup. I've seen some posts alluding to using either INPA or Tool32 to take the car out of transport mode without details. It sounds like the footwell module may need to be updated then recorded.

Any ideas?

Does your car have a sunroof? There is a current open recall for the FRM due to faulty sunroof drains. Your FRM might be on its way out.

A basic scan tool should have the ability to toggle off transport mode. It's worth a try.

Have you already tried clearing the code?
