R50 Coil Pack Bolts Not Coming Loose

Hi I know this has been talked about on this form before but I am making this post as I am hoping someone who has does this before can let me know weather my idea would work. I know that when I turn the bolt the brass insert in the valve cover is spinning freely. I am wondering if the bolts may be sezied and a penitration oil will let me get them free or if I will need to cut the heads off the bolts to remove the coil pack the bolts and brass fittings.

My take is that if the brass inserts are already turning with the bolt, penetrating oil won’t really solve the issue for you. It will help free the bond between the insert and the screw, but the brass is already turning and it still takes some torque to break the bond. How will you keep the brass insert from turning while you turn the screw?

Penetration oil is your first step. Let it sit overnight.

^This. I would cut the heads off the bolts, try to remove the inserts and then JB weld them back in place. Let the JB FULLY cure before reinstalling and go easy on retorquing.

I have seen them rust and then the nut sticks in the valve cover and spins.
