Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Continuation: Ended up replacing the brake master cylinder/reservoir, the clutch slave cylinder and finally the clutch master cylinder. Put everything back together and it bled properly. Drove to the service station Friday a week ago to fill up and a guy leaving the convenience store backed into the Mini and me at the same time. I had just closed the hood searching for any possible fluid leaks. Sent me flying into the driver's side rally light and headlight then over the hood (that was also dented where I hit it) and eventually landed about five feet from the car. Trashed the front of the MC40 and sent me in an ambulance to the ER cussing like a sailor because I thought my back was broken (check out that bruise on my thigh). I did not have that on my Bingo card that day. But that's another story for another time.
Here's the burning question: After the fill up I depressed the clutch and the car would not start. I believe the safety switch involuntarily separately from the clutch pedal except I was in no shape to investigate. However, I'm also wondering if the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder is sealing properly because the clutch seemed softer than normal. To that end, who can tell me if the hydraulic line going to the slave cylinder has only a rubber cap on the end or does it have that cap plus an o-ring? I installed the rubber cap but I cannot find an illustration that also shows an o-ring installed and there doesn't appear to be a indention to receive one. Anyone?
