R50 won't idle
R50 won't idle
Hey all. I was wondering if you could help me out with my 02 R50.
Out of the blue I started it up and it would not stay running. On the road it drives fine, its a hoot to drive and will chirp the tires into 2nd gear.. but soon as you let the engine idle down it stumbles and dies.
A very strange thing I noticed is that if you turn the ac on, it idles fine. ??? Why would that be?
For a little background I picked this car up about a year ago for cheap ($300). It needed a new clutch. I put a Valeo clutch in it and have driven it off and on since then. Its a fun car and have been enjoying my time with it. This forum has been an immense help btw!
Before I bought it it had been sitting about 3 years. Vacuum hoses and things were not in great shape. I went through the system and replaced what was necessary. I noticed it was pretty hard starting and replaced the purge valve and fuel cap. Its ran great since then and is no longer hard starting.
But this new problem is mildly frustrating. I pressure tested the fuel rail and got 42psi. Which is in spec (39-47psi). I did notice that when I shut off the car the pressure drops fast.
Any help would be appreciated.
