R50 idle problems

Hello,

I own Mini R50 2003 and i have a problem with car vibrating when idle.

If i start the car when it is not warmed up it idles about 1200~1100rpm (no vibration noticed) but after driving for few minutes it warms up and idles with 800rpm.

When idling at 800rpm i can feel a vibration when sitting inside. It drives me crazy.

Maybe someone had such a problem or maybe have a clue what could be wrong? Thanks.

No, all lights is off. Engine check light was on like month ago, but it was because of lambda sensor.

When's the last time you did a basic tune up? How many miles are on your R50?

Sorry, when was the last time you replaced the spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil? Engine air filter?

Could bad motor mounts cause the idle to dip? My 02 r50 idles at 1k when warm, never strays up or down in the slightest.

Engine air filter last summer, never replaced wires and ignition coil, but as i remember there was something wrong with wires, because car was twitching when on gas pedal at low rpm, so local car service cleaned the wires or so.. and problem was solved. I think he might change some spark plugs but i do not sure .. i must document every visit at car service because i forget everything ..

So you think this could be something with ignition? There are slight vibration even at higher rpm but it is barely noticeable.

Not likely. Are you having idle issues at cold start?

No issues, just replaced my top passenger side mount and I know bad motor mounts can cause shaking, misfires. Also wasnt sure if idling at 800 as compared to 1k was a big difference, or if it can vary that much from mileage/differene years.

So would you say it idles rough when it dips down? I'd probably start with plugs if you haven't had them replaced. MINI recommends an interval of 100,000 miles (161,000 km). I typically change mine every 30-40k miles. If nothing changes then I'd check for intake leaks and then maybe check your fuel filter.
