Has anyone repinned the plug for the MAF sensor? I’m troubleshooting a MAF sensor error and discovered the orange wire going in to pin #1 is cut, and I’d like to replace it. I can’t find the lock to release the pin. Part of the housing swings up slightly but I can’t see any release mechanism from the backside. The housing has “7540 399-01” stamped on it, but doesn’t get me to any information online.
From the front side there does appear to be some channels above the pins that might take a de-pinning tool. While I try and find a tool that fits the tiny presumptive unlocking channel, I thought I’d ask and see if anyone knew the answer.
After a break for dinner, I’ll answer my own question. You get a narrow flat depinning tool and insert into the smaller hole above the pin on the plug end, and that lets you push the pin halfway out. Then you open the little flap on the back, and now you can see that the depinning tool can push further in to clear a second barb. And then it’s out. Now to find a replacement pin.
