Awhile back, my OEM lsd stopped....limiting slip. It went to feeling just like an open diff. I started hearing a sound that sounded like a brake pad dragging a little bit every time the wheel turns. I figured, that sound meant friction, and friction equals heat, so I quit driving the car. I bought a Wavetrac to replace it. Started doing the install today. When I split the trans case, I noticed some flaky debris, which I figured was from the lsd. I sprayed a bit of brake clean in the trans case to wash out the debris. When I turned the case over to drain the liquid, this set screw randomly fell out. I've given everything a good tug in the trans and nothing feels overly loose. There's a lot down deep I can't see, but I don't see any obvious set screw missing from anywhere. Is it possible the set screw was part of the OEM lsd, and this coming loose is why it stopped working? Anyone pulled one of these lsd's apart before? Not sure whether to just put the trans back together with the Wavetrac and just send it, or what. I've never pulled a transmission apart before, and I'm not keen on doing that now.
