the Quaife is indeed better, but you'll pay a premium for it vs. teh bargain cost of the OEM one.

OEM is like dirty tabs...

Quaife is like clean blotter...

Ohh the flashbacks..

I do know the OEM is a 25% lock and if you buy a new rebuild 05-06 transmission it's no extra cost to get one with LSD. Not sure what the Quaife offers over the OEM. I have a quaife, never have driven an OEM one on the track so I really can't compare.

Quaife is better but more expensive and you pay the labor to install it.
About $600-1200 labor and you can also install lighter flywheel and racing clutch while you are at it for the same labor. Those parts do cost more though. Light clutch would be noisy and less friendly and smooth for daily street driving, good for track. Lifetime warranty on the Quaife ($1200).

Factory LSD is OK for $500 cost and is covered under warranty and considered stock for autocross. A good safety and performance option.

There are many threads on this subject-
search for factory LSD

Info on various differentials-

Quaife is helical gear torque-sensing differential.

Factory LSD is from GKN
