R53 Passenger Seat Sensor Recall - non-Stealership options?

https://thehausauto.com/2015/10/mini...sensor-recall/

Still haven't gotten it done. Some questions:

>Has anyone done it anywhere other than the (BMW/MINI) stealership? For reasons too numerous even to begin listing, trying to avoid going to one, ever again, for anything.
>Can a 'factory certified' upholstery shop (who the Stealerships undoubtedly farm out their interior work to anyway) do the job? How would I find one? Willing to pay $$ out of pocket.
>What is involved in the job? Do they tear up the upholstery and replace it? Or carefully remove the seat cover, replace the mat, and reinstall the seat cover and seat?
>Anyone have issues with their seats afterward, i.e. leather messed up, heater doesn't work, bag light on, won't recline etc, or heaven forbid, get in a crash and after all that trouble the ****ing bag didn't even deploy anyway?

These are my concerns, hopefully unfounded, but we all know how it works down at Satan's Service Bay so I'm trying to weigh the risks at this point.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.
(If someone's already asked / answered this, a link to the thread would be great, thanks.)

^^^ Mine likewise hasn't been. First time at the most local (MINI N. Scottsdale), service tech asked if I wanted that done while there (stated kit was on hand) but I declined, in part due to time and driving distance back home. My cloth seats are essentially in new condition and I had/have similar questions as yours that I should have asked when there. My experience with their service dept management was favorable but not so much with (2) trainee techs that worked on alignment that day and R&R of fuel pump/filter some months later (complete failure while driving freeway nearby, requiring being towed there). I'd rather not risk damage to the passenger seat as happened to both seat backs during subsequent service appointments (replacement plastic back covers furnished n/c for my DIY swap).

I believe when they started offering warranty/recall/whatever it's called replacements, they started replacing just the mats. I know before that they were making people buy entire seat bottoms. I haven't had mine changed either because I was also nervous about letting a tech near it. I also figured it would just fail again.
