Seat Cover Replacement

I currently have an all black leather seat that needs replacing due to an airbag light (it's a 2005 and has a bad seat pad sensor which is out of warranty). I have found a seat but it's two toned black and gray factory leather. Is there a way to replace the seat cover? How are the factory leather covers held in place? Thanks for any help.

Leather seat covers are glued to the seat foam and very difficult to remove easily. You can attach a thin layer of foam to the new cover before reinstalling on the seat frame.

A local shop can do it for you for about $150 labor for one seat.

But you will have one black and one two toned seat cover in the front.

make sure the airbag opening in the seat back is correct for your seat- driver side.

If you buy aftermarket leather covers like Katzin then it can run about $1000 for a pair of front seats. If you go with MINI OEM replacements its about $2100 for one full seat.

Sounds like it's cheaper just to replace the seat itself. wow.
