Passenger airbag light

OK, many peeps I need some help. When nobody sitting in the passenger seat and the seatbelt isn’t engaged, my airbag light starts chiming and comes on on my dash. If I put the buckle in and click it, then it stops but there’s nobody sitting in that seat. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing that?

It could be the passenger occupancy sensor in the seat. You can check to see if your car is eligible for the recall here https://www.miniusa.com/owners/tools...rt/recall.html

Does anyone know what this little box is?

I pulled the passenger seat again and noticed that this little gray box was just hanging.

So I traced it to the harness for the seat. I also noticed that there was a tiny square that had the same color two wires as the gray box that wasn’t attached to anything.

I disconnect the gray box and connected the tiny connector to what the gray box was plugged into and put the seat back. I took the car for a drive with the seat belt not clipped and the airbag light and chime didn’t come on.
im really confused on what the gray box is as it is not shown in the Bentley manual

Looks like a box to emulate the occupancy sensor.

There should be another box to stop the chime from the belt not being fastened.
