Clutch Issues

I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S Convertible 6 speed manual. First ever Mini car for me. I usually do all my own maintenance with the exception of major engine work. I had recently completed a 4 wheel brake job. Rotors and Pads. Things were all going well. I was on my way home last thursday when I went to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Felt the clutch pedal pop kindof and it went all the way to the floor. car was stuck in nuetral. I costed to a stop. Managed to get the car into 1st with the pedal pushed in and the kids pushing the car. Made it home. Did a little research on the clutch control for the car. My old VW scirocco had a cable clutch which is what I am familiar with. Got the front up on jack stands. I exposed the slave cylinder and had my daughter push the pedal. The slave would move but it seemed that it didnt move more than an inch and a half maybe. I then tried to put it into gear while up on jack stands. I can get it into 1st gear with a little extra english. Even before I release the clutch pedal the front wheels are spinning. This told me the clutch disc wasnt fully disengaging. So I thought maybe air leaked into the line. So I proceeded to bleed the system. All the fluid got pumped out and nothing new was getting drawn into the system from the brake reservoir. So I assumed there is a check valve in the Master. Went to the parts store and got both a aster and slave cylinder. I proceeded to swap the master. Got it swapped and bled the system. Pedal feel is back to normal but the clutch still doesnt disengage. I am leary of trying to swap the slave myself since the bolt heads are severely rusted. I cant even get a 10mm socket of any kind ontp it. and an 11mm is too big. Not sure if that is even the issue at this point. Any ideas would be helpsful.

Thanks

From: Under the car. As per normal.
Just curious if you figured this one out. Had an issue a while back with a slave cylinder failure; this one went at fairly low mileage (<50K). Primary symptom was the clutch went to the floor and would not return. The car got stuck in gear for a time and stalled until finally I got it freed up and limped it home. In that instance the garage I took it to (wasn't yet wrenching on the car myself) replaced both the master & slave even though it was just a slave cylinder problem.
