Torque converter question

I have 2007 R56 base, and am replacing the transmission. Long story short, once we bolted the bell housing together, and started trying to bolt the torque converter nuts, we found out the torque converter is apparently not seated properly on the shaft. Only thing i can figure is it slipped forward while installing the gerabox or something.

We loosened everything and have it all supported for the night. I'm just wondering how much damage there could be. I'm thinking that tabs that the converter is supposed to seat on are still in tact because I could tell it was sitting forward. I'd think if they were broken, it would have slid fully down. I'll see when i pull it off, but if the tabs are still in tact, what are the chances it's still OK to go with the converter properly seated?
