High pitched noise @ 70+ mph

I have noticed recently that when I reach 70+mph, usually @ 3k rpm I get a very high pitched noise in the cabin. I have tried to ignore it because I have a normal service coming soon but its getting annoying. I don't totally think its engine related because I can rev the engine higher then 3k and have no noise. I wonder if its related to the window molding etc.

Any thoughts?

just turn the air circulation off...that's all.

I took my car to the dealer just for them to fix that and they could not find that problem. They said they have been driving for an hour, but could not find anything wrong!!!

Yep, that's what causes my high pitched whine. air recirc. Just happened to me the other day. Turned it off, and BAM! the noise was gone.

I'll have to try that. But I think I turned my radio and air off the other day to silence the cabin. But you 2 are probaly right. Thank you.

Another possibility that was the cause of my noise.

Look under the bonnet on the drivers side up by the window cowel. There should be a ribber gasket that may not be firmly in, or in my case, was missing all together leaving a hole in the sheet metal. Had the dealer put a new gasket in and ta-da! no more whistle

There is a tech memo on this, there is a baffle that is reversed in the ac system and they can go in and correct the problem, it normally occurs when the Recir is on verses normal ac with outside air.

My dealer knew what to do, Mini of Mountain View, CA.
