Hi folks,

since a few days I have noticed a strange noise, its only when I'm in gear (its an automatic) so under load.

Its not a steady noise and its independent from the RPM.



Timing chain, friction wheel and drive belt had already been changed a few thousand km ago, engine also runs perfectly smooth.


I have read about the water pump drive wheel, but does it sound like this and I wonder why the noise goes away if the car is in neutral.

What I found out, the noise is more or less only when the engine is cold, maybe that helps...

Engine mounts? Sounds like an exhaust pipe knocking on the body.
