2C58/2D60 every start now

Very annoying, car basically blows this error every start and then I use bimmerlink and it clears after a few clears and a key out restart and we're good. Driving me mad obviously, thinking it might be a vanos solenoid? The car runs absolutely fine regardless, just loves this stupid limp mode error.

I think the colder weather is bringing it up more, but overall just wishing it'd go away!

They are 2x different codes
2C58 is a boost pressure plausability error. This is a collective fault, related to other codes, no recommended actions

2D60 is a Vanos / exhaust valve / control valve fault. Potential problem source(s):- Contaminated oil passage at VANOS solenoid valve- Oil pressure too low- Defect in wiring harness to VANOS solenoid valve- VANOS solenoid valve seized. Recommended actions : Check oil level, change engine oil and filter as indicated- If faults related to the camshaft position sensor have been logged, repair these first- Check wiring harness between VANOS solenoid valve and DME- Perform system test - Check camshaft and VANOS unit for freedom of movement and mechanical damage- Clean VANOS solenoid valve, replace as required-. Also mentions that this can lead to code 2C58, as boost pressure is deactivated to protect engine

Based on the above, I would replace the exhaust vanos solenoid. It’s failure will affect cold start.

Thanks for the heads up, is the exhaust one accessible without removing the turbo piping? The guide I see online is for an n16 engine

I hadn't removed the piping when I swapped mine out. It's on the front of the engine, next to the dipstick. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the retaining screw, and pull it out. Install in the reverse.
