R56 auto not shifting into manual

Hey all,

Was hoping one of you could help me troubleshoot what's wrong with my car.

I try to put it into manual mode with the column but nothing happens. My display just shows D and I can't shift.

If I use the paddle shifters it goes into manual temporarily before going back into drive.

I plan on taking it to a mechanic soon anyway to get some other problems with her smothed over but if I could get some home troubleshooting tips beforehand that may fix it, I'd be more than willing to give them a shot

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So you need to 1st move the shifter into drive the push it in to S which is either to the left or right.I dont remember. A this point your in sport mode for just the trans. At this point if you hit the paddles or press the shifter up or down it will switch to manual mode and stay there until it is switched back to drive.

Ye, that's normally what I should be able to do but when I push my shifter into manual mode it stays in drive.

I can use my paddles to shift but it just goes back to drive after a few seconds.

When I get it into manual woth the paddles I can't use the column to shift

No. I ended up selling the car and buying a new one. From my guess and what I heard from who I sold it to, it's some sort of module somewhere that could've gone bad.
