Door Lock Cylinder & Key cutting question

Hello all,

So a few years ago, my door lock cylinder fell victim to the harsh chicago winters - the little door slit has been stuck in the open position, and the key does not go all the way in, nor does it turn. The door can now only be opened from the inside. Would this cylinder replacement fix this problem?

Who cuts the keys? Will anyone else besides MINI cut it to the same pattern as my current keys, and how much would it typically cost?

Are they anny other parts that I might need? I have an extra actuator and cable on hand as well.

Thanks!

This is one of the few instances where I would buy the part from the dealer. They will be able to order a cylinder from the factory that is made specifically for your existing key. No cutting is necessary.

Got it, I'll take that route! Thanks!
