Replaced Lock Cylinder 2006 Cooper S

Hi,

New Here. Recently we needed both keys replaced, however due to mfg issues they had to install a new lock cylinders, ignition cylinders, DME & EWS modules and program and encode vehicle, align DME & EWS.

This being done when we got home we could not longer open the passenger door from the outside, the remote would "unlock" the door but the handle on the outside would not work even if we used the key in the cylinder and we had to open it from the inside.

We took it to the dealer and they stated they must have damaged it and scheduled an appt. to bring it in. However, once there they stated they did not touch that part of the door and it was normal use. Interesting timing...

Question, is it possible for to change a door lock cylinder without touching the handle mechanism? I would think you must disconnect the two so that you can replace the cylinder.

Thoughts?

Thanks you,
Tbow
