Yellow transmission release tab broken

I snapped the yellow tab on the transmission release on my R56 automatic. Is there a walk-through on how to replace it? I'm guessing it involves extracting the gearshift (after I remove the exhaust and heat shield). Since the engine is out of the car at the moment, if there was ever a time for this repair, it's probably now.
Thanks,
Arnie

That piece isn't available separately. That's used for anytime the cars dead you can pull up the tab and move the selector.
You can also move the white plastic piece and do the same thing.

It's no need to take the shifter out to do that pop the cover up and slide that in the groove

Thanks for your responses, but I can’t see how to remove and reinsert the yellow tab - it looks likes it’s covered by the silver bracket.

I’ve purchased the piece already. It looks like I snapped about 2.5 inches off of it.

that's wonderful you was able to get that I was told no it's part of the shifter.
Raise up the rest of the console and remove the nuts off the silver covering
this will expose the piece so you can change it the round piece fits over the
dowel which makes contact with a little white plastic piece. That part has a
thin wire to it when the yellow release is pulled that piece pivots to let you
move the gear selector.

Thanks! I was able to take off the trim to expose the silver piece and remove it with your instructions. Under that is a black box that snaps out from the front first. Then I snapped the replacement in half trying to feed it in from the front!! There is not enough clearance between the guide for the yellow tab and the frame at the point I circled in red in the pic attached for the circle on the yellow tab to fit through. So I ended up dropping the exhaust and gear shift bracket and installed (yet another) new one. I appreciate your guidance!
