Need help pulling the radiator fan out

Okay so I've put my car into front end service mode so I can pull the radiator fan and replace the low speed resistor but I'm stuck on actually getting the fan out. There's two plastic pins that hold the fan assembly in (I think they are called body pins?) and I can't get them out. I tried to pull it out with a flat head screw driver but I just ended up breaking half the head of one off. So how tf do I get them out? Any suggestions?

Sometimes I use trim removal tools for things like what I imagine you are trying to do

The back side of them have three hooks (sort of). Just take some needle nose pliers and push them to the center and they come out as one.

Jep, thats the correct way. The 3 pins at the end have retaining hooks, its an expanding rivet. See parts #18 & #7
