Radiator Fan Compatibility

Is the early model fan with two connectors compatible with an r53 that only has the single connector with 3 prongs?

No.
Not unless you're going to completely rewire it, or unless
you're just swapping the fan itself and splicing it into the
old assembly.

Thanks. Bought the fan with two connectors on accident. Some of the amazon reviews said you just tie the unused connection out of the way but I wanted to be sure.

Nope. And I wouldn't try to rewire it either. I would simply return it if that is an option.

The switch was WHERE the relays were....on the fan or on the car....so converting one to the other is imo not really an option...
The remarks about the "extra" connector should have been from 2005+ flowers who had the power steering fan system that was factory modified....the the 2 prong PS fan plug would not be used...it is present on fans for unmodified cars, but can be safely cut off if not needed...the car side 2 prong PS fan plug was moved and rerouted with the 2005+ cars, and any car that was modified so a stick PS fan does not make the radiator fan stop running.
