R53 - low speed fan issue, not resistor
Hi Everyone,
I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S, the resistor for the fan is confirmed good, the fan works but is never getting power to the low side. I’ve checked the relays, and all the fuses. The fan never gets power to the low speed side, the AC is on/clutch engaged but doesn’t blow cold air and low speed fan never cuts on. The high speed fan eventually cuts on when the temp gets up. I bought this car recently and it has a RH side door airbag error code. At one point the sunroof leaked so much the battery was completely under water. When I drained it all out and dried it up at first all kinds of crazy things were happening, all tail lights would not cut off when, the dash backlighting wouldn’t go on at first but sometimes they would, almost all the warning lights would come on. I left a heater running inside the car for a couple of days with the windows slightly cracked to let the steam escape. Eventually it appeared everything was dry so I hooked up the battery and gave it a test and everything seemed to be working right again, except the RH side airbag. The lady I bought the car from said the AC wasn’t working when I bought it from her. I set out to figure out why and even tried to re-charge the AC. The clutch runs and I the charge is where it should be, but the low speed fan is not receiving power through the relay. I will dig deeper, but thought I would check in to see if others had any ideas.
