N18 Changed spark plugs coil packs code not clear

Son got a 2012 MINI Cooper S with 60,000 miles on it. Car also has JCW Tunning Kit. Did our "new" car maintenance, new drive belt, replace engine coolant, oil & filter change, new cabin air filter, flush & fill brake fluid, transmission fluid, clean & oil K&N filter, and finally, last thing we completed Saturday night was replaced the spark plugs. Yesterday he got the check engine light and we have installed the UltraGauge which gave a misfire code cylinder 4. He swapped the coils and it changed to misfire cylinder 3 so he replaced the coil packs. Car is now running good but the code is not clearing. Does it take a while to clear the codes in the UltraGauge or is there still something else going on we should check?

Thanks!

Guess I need to edit my signature pic to include son's MINI

I have a scanguage and I can clear codes with it, took me a minute to figure it out but has been nice. Do you have that option on the ultraguage? If not you can disconnect battery for 10 to 15 minutes and that should clear it, if not then there is still a problem. I popped a p0327 right before I went for a drive. I didn’t tighten one of my OCC lines tight enough. So I got under the hood checked them all, cleared it and still haven’t seen the code and that is 400 miles ago.

Some codes won't clear with a scanner. I can't remember if a mis-fire code is one of them or not... Some codes will auto clear if they have not been detected after a few drive cycles. It won't be immediate, but they will eventually clear.

Not sure exactly how the UltraGauge works for clearing codes, but I know that my ScanGauge2 will not clear codes "on-the-fly". If a code comes up while driving, I have to stop the vehicle, cycle the ignition off, then on again without starting the engine in order for the ScanGauge2 to clear the code(s). Sure would be nice to be able to clear codes while driving.....

I recommend Carly and an ODBII reader. I can do almost everything with the app I need to.
