Clutch rattle normal?
Clutch rattle normal?
I just bought a very nice R53 of my own. The car's clutch and six speed shifting seem wonderful.
But when the car has been running long enough to get everything in the drive train as warm as it will get, I hear a rattle in neutral with the clutch out. It seems like a normal sound to me, not something I should be worried about. When the clutch is pressed in the rattle disappears so I assume the rattle is in some part of the clutch.
Sounds OK to me. Anyone know what this rattle is? Should I be concerned or is it normal?
Thanks.

My guess would be either the throwout bearing or dual mass flywheel making noise. Neither are super concerning, though it's possible for the throwout bearing to go bad and cause problems, many people drive around with noisy ones for years without problems.
